 AMONGST EVENTS AROUND THE WORLD THIS PAST WEEK...
*The death toll from Hurricane Matthew is currently over 1000 lost souls; with many unaccounted for people in its aftermath.
*Kersti Kaljulaid is the President-Elect of Estonia, making her the first woman to ever hold the office.
*The Paris Agreement on climate change to reduce greenhouse gas emissions will take effect in November 2016.
*Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte told American President Barack Obama to "go to hell" after the United States refused to sell weapons to his country, based upon the Philippine's current stance of allowing civilians to execute even suspected drug peddlers and users without legal due process. The fact that Russia and China are "cooperating" with Duterte is a point of U.S. interest.
*Russian President Vladimir Putin announced he has suspended his country's 2013 nuclear agreement with the United States concerning uranium research.
*Police in Thane, India have arrested more than 750+ people who might have participated in telephone scams to defraud American citizens.
*The International Tennis Federation has declared that professional tennis players will not be able to plead ignorance if they test positive for banned substances in the future.

THE 2016 NOBEL PRIZES
*The Chemistry achievement went to Bernard L. Feringa, Jean-Pierre Sauvage, and Sir J. Fraser Stoddart for creating molecular machines.
*John M. Kosterlitz, David Thouless and Duncan Haldane share the Physics achievement for their work on condensed matter.
*Yoshinori Ohsumi was awarded the Physiology/Medicine Nobel Prize for his research in autophagy.
*Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the five decades long civil war in his country.

*The Taliban tried to recapture the city of Kunduz, Afghanistan; which they briefly held last year, but failed.
*Bombs of all varieties are still the terrorists' weapon of choice over this past week, with multiple reports of their use.

*Vietnamese radio personality Trịnh Thị Ngọ, better known as Hanoi Hannah (the Vietnam War's version of Tokyo Rose) has passed away.
*Television writer Austin Kalish (All in the Family, I Dream of Jeannie, Maude) has passed away.

WITHIN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA...
POLITICALLY...
*Democrat Tim Kaine, and Republican Mike Pence had their only vice-presidential debate, with Pence spending most of his time defending Republican Presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Many feel Kaine won the debate, while one source of fact checking can be found here.
*Meanwhile, Trump and Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton will have their next Presidential debate Sunday night, although one news source thinks the Trump campaign is in trouble.
*Some other problems the Donald Trump campaign faces, including relations with female reporters.
