Hello Everybody! The Free Choice E-zine's Editor-In-Chief Lee Houston, Junior here because as mentioned last weekend, your regular hosts Piper D. Katt and Koda Canine are off until the new year while I hold down the fort, so to speak.
It's not really a "fort', just a desk in a corner with the computer I'm using on it.
ANYWAY...
Maybe it's just because of the time since New Year's Eve is fast approaching, but I've been thinking about my life lately and I have finally accomplished the first item on my Bucket List.
I got the bucket!🪣
Not sure what I'm gonna do with it,.
I certainly don't intend to kick it and there isn't a beach within a 100 miles of me.
Even if the weather was better outside, I'm just not as enthusiastic about building a dirt castle as I would be a sand castle.
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot I have accomplished in my life so far, and there's a lot more I hope to do.
I know the difference between fantasy and reality, although there are times when fantasy is a lot more entertaining than what's going on in the world.
Some say my mind wanders a lot.
Hey, I'm a writer. My mind is old enough that it can go where it wants to.
Thankfully it always comes back yet, if it wasn't for the souvenirs, I wouldn't always know where it's been.
I miss the good old days where you could have an opinion without offending somebody.
The universe is made up of protons, neutrons, electrons, and a great big heaping of morons.
The trick is to know which is which and act accordingly.
I think Doctor Seuss might have said it best.
"Step with care and great tact and remember life is a balancing act."
Or, if you'd like a quote from another famous source...
“Confronting our feelings and giving them appropriate expression always takes strength, not weakness. It takes strength to acknowledge our anger, and sometimes more strength yet to curb the aggressive urges anger may bring and to channel them into nonviolent outlets. It takes strength to face our sadness and to grieve and to let our grief and our anger flow in tears when they need to. It takes strength to talk about our feelings and to reach out for help and comfort when we need it.”~~Fred Rogers.
The lessons we learn in childhood are the lessons we should remember in adulthood.
But in any event, I hope everyone who is celebrating New Year's Eve🎉🥳 has a great time.
If you drink, please do so responsibly and don't forget: just before the stroke of midnight to raise your left leg so you can start 2025 off on the right foot!😉
Take care and please be back next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—lh,jr.
