SUNDAY FUNNIES: CLASSIC CELEBRITY CITINGS

"Bark!" And you can quote me on that.
Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here!
It's been quite a while since the last time I've posted any funny celebrity quotes. Not that celebrities don't say anything funny, whether intentionally or not, just that I haven't used any of their material in a while.
So without further adieu, and my comments are in italics.

"I had a rose🌹 named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalog: 'No good in a bed, but fine against a wall.'" - Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady to President Franklin Roosevelt.
Maybe you should have pointed out the thorns to whoever wrote that description.

"Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint." - Mark Twain, famous author.
So they had fad diets even way back then huh? It's a lot trickier today with the Internet!

"By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher." - Socrates, Greek philosopher.
Is that how you got into the business sir?

"I have never hated a man enough to give his diamonds🔷⃟🔶 back." - Zsa Zsa Gabor, actress.
People should marry for love, but it doesn't hurt to have something to cover the expenses of old age.

"My luck is so bad that if I bought a cemetery, people would stop dying." - Rodney Dangerfield, famous comedian.
That doesn't necessarily sound like a bad thing. Think of the all the innocent victims of violence that wouldn't be leaving before their natural end.

"Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery." - Spike Milligan, comedian/writer.
At least it keeps the bills paid, food on the table and a roof over your head. That sounds like happiness to me.
Bob Hope

"I don't feel old. I don't feel anything until noon. Then it's time for my nap." - Bob Hope, comic actor.
You should see some of the cats🐈🐱 I have to share this house with Mr. Hope. I don't think any of them have moved in weeks. But let me try to catch 40 winks after barking at the mailman📧📪...

"I never drink water because of the disgusting things that fish🐟🐠 do in it." - W. C. Fields, comedian.
Humans pollute the water a lot more than fish do, sir.

Churchill
"We could certainly slow the aging process down if it had to work its way through Congress." - Will Rogers, comedic actor.
If red tape existed back then, George Washington would still be waiting for supplies to get to Valley Forge!

"Don't worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you." - Winston Churchill,
England's Prime Minister during World War 2.
Life's for living! Have fun when you can responsibly.

And on that note🎵, have a great week everybody and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—AtP.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: HEATING THINGS UP

Scaled for protection
Hello Everybody! Waxy Dragon here!
Now folks, I may be a baby dragon, but even I know that Climate Change is real, a serious issue facing this world, and that heat exhaustion, let alone heat stroke and other serious conditions are no laughing matter.

I'm walking a fine tightrope here, which is easy because I have wings and I can fly, talking about this at all because this is The Sunday Funnies and not some political forum.

But because this is Sunday and my mother taught me to laugh in the face of adversity before I punch it in the mouth...

HOW HOT WAS IT?
IT WAS SO HOT...

That the cows🐮 are giving powdered milk!

That farmers are feeding ice to the chickens🐔 so they won’t lay boiled eggs.🐣
That you can poach eggs in a pool.
That chickens are laying omelettes.
But I do hope you are protecting your pets and livestock as well as yourself.

That my kite crashed and burned.

That corn on the stalks starts popping.

That I saw squirrels picking up nuts with pot holders before the birds borrow the pot holders to pull worms from the ground.
Then again, the worms are already like overcooked spaghetti...

That even Mister Heat Miser (from the Rankin Bass holiday special The Year Without A Santa Claus) is miserable.

That the car overheats before you start it.

That I saw a fire hydrant chasing a dog.

That the air conditioners are demanding air conditioning!

That all the bread products in stores are toast.

That my thermometer goes up to “I’m not kidding!” before saying things I can't repeat in a public forum.

That people are using Celsius instead of Fahrenheit just to have a lower number!

That the only waves at the beach were heat waves.

"That I saw Flash chasing the Mirror Master and they were both walking!"—Cary Bates, Action Comics #442 (December 1974)

Folks, we laugh because we can, but change is a MUST!
How long can something be denied before realizing you were wrong?
By then it might be too late!
THINK ABOUT IT!—wd.

The Sunday Funnies will return next weekend, weather permitting.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: LEGALLY WED?

Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here!
There are a lot of married people in the world.
Some of them must really love being married, considering that they are on their third or fourth.
The people I live with are still on their first and have been married a lot longer than I've been alive, which I find sweet.
To spend your whole life with your beloved soulmate?💕
That must be Heaven on Earth.
But have you ever wondered why there are so many laws governing the subject?
My comments are in italics, but FOR EXAMPLE...

In Vermont, a wife must obtain written permission from her husband before wearing false teeth.
Shouldn't that be between the woman and her dentist?

In Truro on Cape Cod, the groom-to-be must prove his manliness before marriage by hunting and killing either six blackbirds or three crows.
And that is on top of acquiring the ring, staging the ceremony and the reception afterward!

In Delaware, it's legal to obtain an annulment if you got married on a dare or as a prank. The official law states that a marriage may be annulled if one or both parties entered the marriage as a jest or dare.
I guess whoever wrote that law never heard that marriage is supposed to have its fun moments too.

In Salem, Massachusetts, it's illegal for a married couple to sleep nude in a rented room.
I guess that lawmaker has never been on a honeymoon!

In Wichita, Kansas, the mistreatment of a mother-in-law can be used as grounds for divorce.
Now, considering some of the things I've heard about how mother's treat their in-laws, is this fair?

In Kentucky, it is actually illegal to marry the same person four times.
Isn't once enough? Besides, do you really need to renew your vows if they are supposed to last forever?

A married couple can NOT kiss in public on Sundays in Hartford, Connecticut!👫
WHY? Was whoever wrote that law jealous of somebody?

And before anyone says anything, these laws were all legal and enforceable at some point in the past, if not still on their respective books today.
Besides, being a puppy, what do I personally know about marriage to begin with? 😉

So on that note🎵, have a great week everybody, and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—AtP.

NUMBER PLEASE

TRIVIA TIME⌚
What is a pangram?

We’ll reveal all next weekend, but for now, let’s open up THE ANSWERS BOX📦 and discover the results from the July 6, 2019 Puzzle Corner.

COMMON BONDS
The items in each subset below have something in common. Do you know what it is?
01. {Wally Cox, Adam West} and we are not going for the obvious.
The obvious would be actors who have played superheroes, Underdog and Batman, respectively. But the answer we were going for is both guest starred in an episode of Alias Smith and Jones entitled “The Men Who Corrupted Hadleyburg”, even sharing a scene together, making that the closest the world will ever come to an Underdog-Batman team up outside of a comic book.
02. {Glen, Neve} = the surname Campbell.

FAMOUS FIRSTS🥇
What is the biggest (as of June 2019) one hit wonder of all time?
It’s actually a tie between Survivor’s ♫Eye of the Tiger♫ and ♫Somebody That I Used To Know♫ by Goyte, featuring Kimbra. Both songs have achieved Platinum status EIGHT TIMES so far.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: LAZY DRAGON THOUGHTS (misc. jokes)

Hello Everybody! Waxy Dragon here!
It's a lazy Sunday afternoon where I'm at.
Then again, it would be a lazy Sunday afternoon regardless of where I am right now. 😉
Don't you just love good weather?
Nothing to do but hang out. Sit under a tree.
Be careful of the ants🐜 though. I can tell you from first hand experience that they don't like being sat on.
Anyway, I'm just avoiding the chores Bubblehead wants me to do, kicking back and relaxing while telling some good jokes.
Ready?

Waxy's drawing of her human companion
I know a lady who studies animals that live in the ocean.
Yet for some reason, she doesn't like it when you call her Maureen Biologist.

Did you know that in one year, 1990 will be 30 years ago?
When I think 30 years ago, I think 1970.
Then again, I wasn't hatched until a couple of years ago as it is.
But I'm out of (baby) Dragon School for the summer, so why am I doing math to begin with when I don't have to?

Is your refrigerator running?
Because if it is, I'd vote for it, if I was old enough to.
“Fridge 2020, because American needs to chill out!"

Bubblehead, my guardian (although sometimes I wonder who's watching out for who 😉) told me once that everybody must love camping because they're always living in tents.
When I asked him what he meant by that, since we live in a house, he told me, "Everybody is either content or discontent."
I thought about it. Considering some of the adventures I've gotten into with him, sometimes I wish Bubblehead and I lived in a circus tent 🎪, but I certainly wouldn't want to be put on display like some performing animal. 😝

If you count your money when it comes out of an ATM machine, you officially don’t trust anything!

The only thing I really don't like about summer vacation is that I hardly ever get to see any of my fellow dragons until school starts again in the fall.
I miss my friends, but there's always room for more.
You don’t have to be crazy to be my friend. I'm willing to train potential new applicants.
And remember, 🕊Dove's chocolate tastes a LOT better than their soap!
(If Bubblehead would just stop hiding the Belgosian Dark Chocolate...)
So on that note🎵, take care, have a great week, and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—wd.
