MEMORIAL DAY 2020

The following is an editorial.

Remember the fallen. Past, present, and future.
There is a lot going on in the world right now, especially concerning the current COVID-19/Coronavirus Crisis.
Yet while in many ways life has been pretty much paused for everyone, time goes on.

Today is Memorial Day here in the United States.
The last Monday of every May is set aside to remember those who have served within America's various military branches, especially those who gave their lives defending this country to protect the freedoms and civil liberties that everyone has.
Other countries around the world have similar practices and policies. This is just America's turn.

Alas there have always been wars and rumors of wars.
One should always hope for a peaceful resolution to any conflict.
Yet we must also be realistic that that option is not always available to us.
When there is absolutely no other alternative, we should be glad that there are those willing to fight and, if necessary, lay down their lives so that others might continue to live and be free.

Unfortunately the current pandemic cannot be fought with military might.
It requires a different kind of courage, wisdom, and strength. A call that many have already answered.
Yet it has claimed plenty of lives too. Innocent victims as well as those on the "front lines" fighting the disease.
I cannot say when, but there will be victory in this battle too.
Until then, STAY SAFE!

SUNDAY FUNNIES: MEMORIAL DAY MUSINGS

Hello Everybody! Free Choice E-zine Editor-In-Chief Lee Houston, Junior here since this is the Memorial Day weekend, so your regular hostesses Waxy Dragon and Autumn the Puppy are off with their respective families.

This has been quite a trying time for everyone with the {censored} pandemic, regardless of how good or bad the COVID-19/Coronavirus Crisis has been addressed and handled in your area.

Everyone is understandably doing their best to survive and we at The Free Choice are still here doing our best to entertain you each Sunday, so I better get on with it. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Remember the fallen. Past, present, and future.

A joke can cover a wide variety of topics, and people too.
In fact, one person that seems to have a lot of jokes told about them is Chuck Norris, although every one I've ever heard is in regards to how tough/strong Mister Norris is.
I have absolutely no idea how this started, yet we can all use a good laugh right now.
So since he hasn't questioned any of them (to my knowledge), I'm sure Mister Norris won't mind me sharing some of them with you.

Chuck Norris and Superman once fought each other on a bet. The loser had to start wearing his underwear on the outside of his pants. Guess who won?

Chuck Norris once went skydiving and his parachute failed to open, so he took it back the next day for a refund!

When Chuck Norris works out he doesn’t get stronger, the exercise machine does.

Chuck Norris knows the last digit of pi.๐›‘

Still have no idea who to accredit this funny to.
Chuck Norris can hear his phone๐Ÿ“ด ring on silent.

Chuck Norris can draw a triangle with FOUR sides.

Chuck Norris never hides, he only seeks.

Chuck Norris doesn’t read books.๐Ÿ“š He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

They say that time⌚ waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris.

The dinosaurs looked at Chuck Norris the wrong way once. You know what happened to them.

Chuck Norris was originally scheduled to appear in the ‘Street Fighter II’ video game, but was removed by Beta Testers because every button caused him to do a roundhouse kick. When asked about this “glitch,” Chuck Norris replied, “That’s no glitch.”

And on that note♫, I hope everyone has a good week.
Please remember what the holiday tomorrow is actually for.
STAY SAFE! And please be back again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—lh,jr.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: THE PANDEMIC PAUSE CONTINUES

Waxy, a dragon
Hello Everybody! Waxy Dragon here!
I'm sure you're as unhappy with the Pandemic Pause as I am, but for the time being I will continue to only do inside jokes.
My condolences to those in quarantine with a loud person.
You thought dogs were hard to train?
Look at all the humans that can’t sit and stay.
Some places have tried various attempts at reopening, with the only real accomplishment being to create more cases.๐Ÿ˜ท

I may be just a baby companion dragon, but I do understand and can relate to the concepts of being cooped up and stressed out, which is why Autumn the Puppy and I are trying to do the best we can to entertain you folks every Sunday as usual.
Yet stop and ask yourselves this:
What do you want more? Your health or whatever it is you wanted to buy from whatever business is closed right now?๐Ÿ˜’

Waxy's drawing of "Bubblehead".
It's not easy for us kids either.
For example, believe it or not I miss Dragon School. I still learn new things online at home but it isn't quite the same as being there, hanging out with my friends, and all the other stuff associated with what comprises my social life.

But mostly I'm worried about "Bubblehead", my nickname for the human I'm stuck live with.
He told me the other day "I’m coming out of quarantine either 100 pounds heavier or 50 pounds lighter."
Considering I still haven't found where he's hiding the Belgosian Dark Chocolate๐Ÿซ, I think we'll both be a little lighter when all this is over.

He ran out of toilet paper and started using lettuce leaves.
Today was the tip of the iceberg.

Bubblehead does go grocery shopping hunting at least once a week.
He gets up before the crack of dawn to be in line at the store when they open.
I'm just now getting up for the day when he gets home, but I still love him.
I help him put all the food away, and eat it too.๐Ÿ˜‰

Life may be on hold, but you ARE still alive!
I'm not exactly sure what Bubblehead does for a living but he's been working from home a lot since this all began.
Then again, sometimes he complains about having to work at work, so I don't think I'll ever completely understand humans.
I will admit that it's a little uncomfortable having him constantly underfoot paw, but at least I know he's safe.๐Ÿ’–

Occasionally I wonder if he'll ever go out and find himself a "Mrs. Bubblehead".
I can just picture the personal ad now...
"Single man with toilet paper would like to meet single woman with hand sanitizer for some good clean fun."

There was an interesting ad in the personals (hey, when you've read the whole paper, what else is left?) the other day. It said:
Dear Life:
When I asked “Can this get any worse?” That was a rhetorical question, not a challenge.

I know things will get better in time. Hopefully everyone will be patient enough for it to do so.
Meanwhile, may your troubles be less and your blessings more and may nothing but happiness come through your door.
Take care. Have a great week. STAY SAFE! And please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!wd.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: HAPPY MOTHERS DAY 2020

Puppy
HELLO EVERYBODY!
Dragon, duh!

Today you have both Autumn the Puppy & Waxy Dragon here as we unite via the Internet to observe MOTHERS' DAY!

That's right Autumn, and what with that dang pandemic putting everything on pause, it's been especially tougher than normal being a mother this year.

Afraid so Waxy.
One of the most difficult jobs a person can have within their lifetime is to be a parent.
It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to raise a child.
So here's to all our maternal parents!
You grand ladies know who you are.

But hey, it's a holiday, so let's celebrate!๐Ÿ™Œ
And you know what that means everybody...
IT'S JOKE TIME!

What is the "official" dance of Mothers' Day?
The Mom-bo.

What did the mother bee ask the cranky baby bee to do?
Beehave.

What did the baby porcupine ask the cactus?
Are you my mother?

Do baby lambs ask their mommies for their baa-baas when they’re hungry?

Folks, even without all the hassles and concerns that this COVID-19/Coronavirus crisis has raised, Mothers cook and clean and take care of their family and so much more that one lone day singled out to honor them just doesn't seem like enough.
So to every mother every where, not only do we sincerely thank you for being there and doing what you do, but we hope that you're taking care of yourselves as well.—AtP and wd.

The Sunday Funnies will return next weekend.
Until then, have a great week and STAY SAFE!

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU, 2020

Today is May 4, 2020; although to many Star Wars fans it's International Star Wars Day.

While not (yet?) officially recognized by anyone other than those with a vested interest in a galaxy far, far away; Star Wars has gained as much prestige around the world as Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Quantum Leap, whose Leapers have claimed February 29 as their own.

So, while our resident comediennes Autumn the Puppy and Waxy Dragon can't officially get into the act because May 4 doesn't fall on a Sunday Funnies until 2025; that doesn't mean we can't have some fun, especially given current events.๐Ÿ˜ท
Ready?

Why do Ewoks never shout in the house?
Because they always use their Endor voice.

Generic galaxy far, far away; since Disney now owns & controls it.
Darth Vader once tried to make cookies, but he burnt them. They were a bit on the dark side.

Have you met Darth’s wife, Ella Vader?

A wife got mad at her husband because, in her opinion, he had too much Star Wars merchandise.
“It’s either all that junk or me!” she yelled.
He just looked at her and replied, “May the divorce be with you.”

What do you call Storm Troopers playing cards?
A game of clones!

Why did the evil Jedi cross the galaxy?
To get to the dark side!

Why is a droid mechanic never lonely?
The dark side, at least figuratively. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Because they're always making new friends!

Toy Yodas.๐Ÿธ

If you are dating a girl who does not like Star Wars puns, then you are looking for love in Alderaan places.

Two Storm Troopers part company when suddenly one fires upon the other.
"Why did you do that?" the first Storm Trooper asks, thankful to still be alive.
The second Storm Trooper replies, "I just wanted you to know that I would always miss you."

Is BB hungry?
No. BB-8.

May the Farce/Force be with you!๐Ÿ˜€

SUNDAY FUNNIES: SAFELY JOKING AT HOME

PUPPY POWER! ๐Ÿ•
Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here.
Now, first and foremost, a little business.
Today is only May 3.
TOMORROW is May 4, also known as Star Wars Day.
We here at the Sunday Funnies got to celebrate it in 2014, but our turn doesn't come around again until 2025! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ข
Don't worry. THERE WILL BE a special post doing so Monday, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun in the meantime...

Now, I know it seems like time is dragging along as we wait for things to get back to "normal", whatever that was or will be.
But on the bright side, if you're reading this, you're safe and sound at the moment so what more can you ask for?
In any event, Self Quarantining๐Ÿ˜ท and Staying Home hasn't been easy for some people, and hence the theme of my post for this week...

My owner used to complain that he didn't want to work from home.

Now he's saying, "If I only knew how short the commute was..."

His wife observed, "By the time this is all over, some of us are going to develop great cooking and baking skills, while others are going to need to start exercising more."๐Ÿ˜‰

If you do work from home and have to telecommute anywhere, think of all the travel time you're saving. As well as fuel costs, wear and tear on your vehicle, and the fact you really only have to dress fancy from the waist up for any webcam.๐Ÿ˜€
But remember, no matter how long you wear your pajamas, they still need washing eventually!
Yet I can't help wondering, if you don't have to dress as fancy as you used to when working from home, what's "Casual Friday" like now?

This morning my owner saw his neighbor talking to her cat.๐Ÿ˜ธ
Obviously she thought the cat understood her.
When he came back in and told me (his dog Autumn), we had a good laugh over it.

You know you're single and living alone during this time when the highlight of your week is trying to decide what outfit to wear to take out the garbage!

Anyway, it's great that we can pause (paws?) and get a good chuckle or two out of all of this, because they do say Laughter Is The Best Medicine, and just be glad you're not getting charged for that medical advice!
But the COVID-19/Coronavirus crisis itself is NO laughing matter.
STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE!๐Ÿ˜ท
And of course, try to have a good week and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!AtP.
