SUNDAY FUNNIES: "ARE YOU PONDERING WHAT I'M PONDERING?"

Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here!
First, a couple of announcements.
1. Between the pandemic and other factors, our annual Back To School Funnies๐Ÿซ have been rescheduled for September 13.
2. Whatever the next post after this one is will be The Free Choice E-zine's 2400th Blogger entry! Barring anything unforeseen between now and then, it will probably be the September 5th Puzzle Corner.
Now then, on with the show...

Truthfully, I haven't done much lately, but I'm glad I still can do that.
The weather has been beautiful over the last few days. A great time to just kick back and relax.
Of course, the people I live with won't let me lay out in the hammock again.
Hey, it's not like I'm going to be stupid enough to do what I did last time I tried to sleep there.
I got hungry and started gnawing on the ropes, not knowing that when they were chewed through too much...
Let's just say, like Humpty Dumpty, I had a (not so great) fall.

Now then, before I begin, I want to make sure this mike is working.
If your name is Michael, please stand up.
(After those in the audience who can comply,) Okay. That concludes this Mike check.
Anyway, since I need to tell some jokes now, let me tell you what I've been pondering lately.

What do you call an ugly dinosaur?
An eyesaur.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that 2020 should be spelled with two bulls' eyes⦾⦾ instead of two zeroes?

I'm seriously considering dedicating my life to finding a cure for insomnia.
If I do decide to take up this cause, I won’t rest until I find it.

Here's an enigma I've yet to figure out the answer to.
What if there were no hypothetical questions?

How come everyone accepts the phrase "Have A Nice Day" but grow worried if you say "Have A Nice 24 Hours"?

Considering how things have gone so far this year, have any of you bothered to look up that person who said, "The only way I'd ever be interested in you is if the world is coming to an end."

And now, in honor of one of my favorite animated series that will soon be revived (if you have the correct streaming service to see it)...
"Are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
"I think so, but you shouldn't use big words when singularly unloquacious and diminutive linguistic expressions will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity."๐Ÿ˜ฎ

So on that note♫, have a great week everybody. STAY SAFE! ๐Ÿ˜ท And please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!AtP.

THE PUZZLE CORNER: AUGUST 29, 2020

๐Ÿ˜ŽFUN FACT

NUMBER PLEASE
Get ready! We ask the question, but the answer is just a number.
As I was going to Saint Ives, I met a man๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญ with seven wives.
Each wife had seven sacks.
Each sack had seven cats๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜ธ.
Each cat had seven kittens.
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives.
How many were COMING from Saint Ives?

TRIVIA TIME⌚
What famous character lives at 1770 James Street?

We’ll reveal all next weekend but for now, let’s open up THE ANSWERS BOX and discover the results from the August 22, 2020 Puzzle Corner as we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution as American women finally obtained the right to vote.

01. NO, the United States of America was NOT the first country to acknowledge a woman's right to vote.
02. New Zealand was in 1853, but they did not acknowledge a lady's eligibility to run for office until 1919. The 19th amendment does both.
03. Woodrow Wilson was President of the United States at the time when the 19th amendment became official, although he was personally against it.
04. 36 of the then 48 states had to approve the measure for it to officially become part of the Constitution.
05. Illinois was the first to say "yes" on June 10, 1919.
06. Tennessee was the last state needed to make the amendment official. They said "yes" on August 18, 1920 and the measure officially became part of the Constitution on August 26, 1920, making that day the official anniversary. See how quickly government actually worked back then?
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE COUNTRY?
Connecticut adopted the measure on September 14, 1920.
Vermont did the same on February 8, 1921.
Delaware did too on March 5, 1923!
Virginia finally recognized the measure on February 21, 1952.
Alabama on September 8, 1953.
But Maryland remained silent on the matter until February 25, 1958!
Alaska and Hawaii accepted the Constitution as is when they both officially became states in 1959.
Yet Florida didn't formally acknowledge the 19th amendment until May 13, 1969, with South Carolina finally doing so July1.
Georgia eventually followed suit on February 20, 1970 with Louisiana joining the party on June 11 of that year.
North Carolina adopted the measure on May 6, 1971, and Mississippi finally accepted the 19th amendment on March 22, 1984!

Alaska, Hawaii and Connecticut I can understand. But the rest?
If any historians in the audience care to shed some light upon this subject, feel free to contact this e-zine with the information.

BOOK REVIEW: THE GOOD NEIGHBOR, THE LIFE AND WORK OF FRED ROGERS by Maxwell King

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that it's been quite a while since I last posted a book review here.
On the other hand, I have developed quite a backlog from doing them regularly for my local newspaper on behalf of my local public library, so...

“It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood,” whenever Fred Rogers (1928-2003) visited via your local Public Broadcasting Station. His pleasant manners and gentle way to address everyone, no matter what the topic under discussion was, endeared him to young and old alike.

In this well researched and detailed biography, Maxwell King recounts the life of everybody’s favorite neighbor from birth through adulthood. What influenced Rogers to be the man he was and aided him in his lifelong mission to educate children and help all he could.

The world needs more people like Fred Rogers.
One of his most sage pieces of advice, "When there's trouble, look to the helpers," is often quoted, especially in more recent days with all the social injustice and pandemic perils around the world.

Unfortunately Mister Rogers may no longer be with us, but at least through this book we can remember a simpler time and a man who cared.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: PIPER'S PREMIERE!

Hi folks!
My name is Piper D. Katt, and right now I'm as nervous as a long tailed feline in a rocking chair factory.
Think about that for a second and you'll realize what I'm getting at.
Anyway, I was actually supposed to debut on Labor Day weekend as the new holiday sub when the regular hostess team has the day off, but while I don't know what happened to whoever was supposed to be here today, I'm going to do my best to entertain everyone.
But first, a little about me.
As you can tell, I'm a cat.
Although the only member of The Free Choice E-zine staff I've met so far has been the Editor-In-Chief, hopefully Autumn the Puppy and I will get along well.
Otherwise, you know how it is between cats๐Ÿ˜ธ and dogs.๐Ÿ•

Anyway, one thing I love๐Ÿ’– to do is ♫sing♫, but no backyard fences for me!
One day I hope to actually have a recording contract. I even write my own songs!
Want to hear one? Okay...

♫When the shark๐Ÿฆˆ swims on by
With something on its thigh
That's Remora.♫

But now it's time for some jokes!

Can anyone tell me why you drive miles from home to go to a gym just to walk a mile on a treadmill that goes nowhere?

I can proudly say that whenever I go fishing๐ŸŽฃ, they're always biting.
Once before I arrive, and again after I leave. ๐Ÿ˜พ

The people I grace with my presence have been ordering a lot of stuff online lately because of the pandemic.
Of course they're naturally worried about costs versus their income.
Me? I'm more interested in the shipping boxes๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ“ฆ once they're emptied.

Well, that's about all the space I have for this outing.
Not sure if I'll be back again before Labor Day weekend but in any event, take care.
STAY SAFE!๐Ÿ˜ท
And please be here next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!PDK.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: REFRIED CHICKEN

Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here!
We're still trying to figure out these new Blogger controls here at The Free Choice E-zine, so please bear with us.

Anyway, long time readers of this feature know that when I get something on my mind, I just can't let go of it. I keep digging and digging until I either turn up something new or finally admit defeat. In this case, it's been trying to find a definitive answer to that age old classic WHY DID THE CHICKEN๐Ÿ” CROSS THE ROAD?

We've certainly gotten enough mileage out of that bird already between July 17September 25; October 2, 9 and 16 of 2011, July 5 and September 6 of 2015; and April 24, 2016. (There are 8/EIGHT separate links to check out, if you want to.)
But like any dog with a bone, I kept gnawing away until I came up with some new information/jokes.
Ready?

NOTE: All celebrity responses below are humorously impersonated with no actual political endorsements implied or given.

"DONALD TRUMP": I've been told by my many sources, good sources - they're very good sources - that the chicken crossed the road. All the Fake News wants to do is write nasty things about the road, but it's a really good road. It's a beautiful road. Everyone knows how beautiful it is.

"JOE BIDEN": Why did the chicken do the... thing in the... you know the rest.
"Cluck!" (I'll never tell!)

"ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ": Chickens should not be forced to lay eggs! This is because of corporate greed! Eggs should be able to lay themselves.

"ALBERT EINSTEIN" (from hysterical notes): Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road crossed the chicken depends upon your frame of reference.

"CHARLES DARWIN" (NOT in Origin of the Species): It was the logical next step after coming down from the trees.

"JACK NICHOLSON": You want to know why? You can't handle the reason why!

And there you have it folks! There was no fowl play involved in the making of this post but I'll keep digging into this unsolved mystery when I have time on my paws and nothing else better to do.
Meanwhile, take care. STAY SAFE! And please be back with us again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!AtP.
