SUNDAY FUNNIES: PICTURE THIS...

Okay Everybody! The Free Choice E-zine's Editor-in-Chief Lee Houston, Junior here.
With this being a holiday weekend (Thanksgiving, NOT the start of the 2017 Christmas shopping season) our resident hostesses Autumn the Puppy and Waxy Dragon have the weekend off.
Therefore, I've lined up some visual gags to entertain you.
Ready?

Not that I actually believe in the potential of a zombie apocalypse, but this sign at a gas station pictured on the right was funny.

Okay, I found the image on the left while Internet surfing one day and thought it was cute.
My question though is: did the bird on top originally pose for the sign and is showing off now, or is this an avian protest of what the sign stands for?

Is whoever created the sign on the right hoping to drum up additional business, or are they bad at sales gimmicks?

I took the image on the left myself during a visit to my doctor's office.
Obviously a lack of communication between the original building contractor and whoever doesn't want to be disturbed on the other side of that door.

The meme on the right is an entertaining reminder of past accomplishments and what we can still do if we put our minds to it.

And on that note♫, have a great week everybody. Take care and please be back with us next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—lh,jr

THANKSGIVING VERSUS BLACK FRIDAY 2017

The following is an editorial and all links were active at the time this was posted.

I hope everyone that tried to celebrate had a nice Thanksgiving Thursday, even if you wound up having to work.

The over-hyped Christmas retail season seems to grow bolder every year; with signage out in stores before HALLOWEEN and a lot of businesses opening even earlier than they used to to start "Black Friday" promotions, if they even bother to close for Thanksgiving anymore.

TWO different retailers started their sales events within an hour of each other at 5 and 6 pm respectively yesterday. The one that opened at 6 soon started receiving complaints from customers about running out of sale merchandise before the clock struck midnight to officially make it Friday!

Meanwhile, overnight crowds were so bad that police in Birmingham, Alabama actually CLOSED the Riverchase Galleria Mall to prevent further problems!

Once upon a time, the earliest a store opened on the Friday after Thanksgiving was 7 AM, because they were fully closed on the holiday!

Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time where one pauses with their family and friends to reflect upon their blessings, the positive things in life, and all they have to be thankful for.
Granted, that's something human beings need to do more than once a year, but I guess those that have to work should at least be thankful they have a job, even if many of those same employees are seriously being taken advantage of; regardless of how many jobs they have to work to attempt making ends meet.

As for me, my position of years' past still stands.
I will shop and support local businesses on "Small Business Saturday", and let my fingers do the walking on more major purchases via the Internet on "Cyber Monday" next week, but as for "Black Friday", may I represent this brief ode to the event...

SOME DARE BRAVE THE GLOOM OF BLACKEST NIGHT,
QUESTING FOR BARGAINS UPON THEIR TREK,
TO HIT EVERY SALE BEFORE DAYLIGHT.

ME? I PLANNED WELL AHEAD.
NO NERVES, CREDIT, OR CAR SUFFERED WRECK.
JUST RESTFUL SLUMBER WITHIN MY OWN BED.

I sincerely hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and remembered to thank the only ones who should of worked yesterday: those brave men and women in law enforcement, fire prevention, the medical profession, and the military keeping the country and the world safe.
And if you're in retail and had to work on Thanksgiving, you have my sympathy.

The above was an editorial and all links were active at the time this was posted.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: QUICKIE JOKES (one liners)

"Pass the dog biscuits!"
Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here!
Lots to do around my people's house with Thanksgiving coming up.
I'm trying to stay out from underfoot, especially since I don't want any of my paws stepped on, as everybody's relatives are going to descend upon us wanting to be fed.
Of course Thanksgiving used to be, and SHOULD be about a lot more than food, football, and the start of the Christmas retail season with the dreaded "Black Friday", especially considering more stores are staying open Thanksgiving Day AND night, seriously cutting back the time their employees have to spend with their families! 💔

So, since everybody seems pressed for time right now and I still want everyone to laugh and destress a bit, here are some one liners. Ready?
What lurks below???

Would a struggling business that served submarine sandwiches be going underwater?

If Climate Change is causing the sea level to rise, does this mean that the oceans are getting too big for their beaches?

I used to be addicted to seaweed, but I found Kelp.

Do forgetful cows yield Milk of Amnesia?

Those who don't want to be counted have taken leave of their census.

And on a more serious note♫: regardless of how tasty the meat is-chicken, turkey, duck, and fish bones are NOT good for your pets!
If you're going to feed your pet table scraps from your Thanksgiving dinner this week, please remember: NO BONES!
Otherwise, take care, have a great week, and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—AtP.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: TRYING TO FIGURE OUT FOOTBALL

"Hike?"
Hello Everybody! Waxy Dragon here!
Now, I know I'm only a baby (companion) dragon, but even after all this time, I still don't understand football.
I don't mean the new problems that have arisen like "To Kneel, or Not To Kneel" but more of the classic things like when the Quarterback (and is that all the money the poor guy has? Twenty-five cents?) yells "Hike" before snapping the football, is he expecting his team to go on some long march?
After all, they're already running like crazy hoping to be the one he throws the ball to.
Then again, considering some of the plays I've seen, they should be hoping to successfully catch it instead of just being the player the quarterback throws the ball to.
In any event, some fans' dedication to the game is beyond belief.
Here are some examples...

In preparation for a romantic evening, they consider a football helmet formal head wear.

Their wedding colors were the same as their favorite team's uniforms.
I wonder how long that marriage lasted?

They spend more for season tickets than any other expense.
Do they at least have a roof over their head and food on the table?

They've worn the same shirt on Sundays for seven years.
I hope they've at least washed it!

They've worn face paint to Sunday church.
Aren't they supposed to be showing faith in something else for a couple of hours that morning?

A man takes his seat at the Super Bowl. He looks to his left and notices that there is a spare seat between himself and the next guy.
“Who would ever miss the Super Bowl?” the guy asked
“That was my wife’s seat," replied the other man. "We have been to the last five Super Bowls together, but sadly she passed away.”
“That’s terrible," observed the first man, "but couldn’t you get another member of the family, a friend, or even someone else to come with you?”
The second man just nodded his head negatively and said, “No, they're all at her funeral.”

And on that note♫, have a great week everybody and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—wd.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: TIME ON MY PAWS (struggling guitarist jokes)

♫I CAN sing! Arroooooo!♫
Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here.
Got some extra time on my paws right now because America fell back last night as Daylight Saving Time ended for us.
Why Congress keeps messing with it, considering the rest of the world stopped using DST LAST weekend...

Anyway, been wondering about a lot of stuff lately.
Like, knowing I can sing {♫woof woof woof wooooof!♫}, but wondering why I've never taken up a musical instrument.
Of course with these paws, it would all depend upon what type of instrument I pursue. Then again, I haven't smelled any nearby lately that I could hunt and chase, so...

With that in mind, how about some jokes about struggling guitarists who have yet to make it big. Ready?

How many struggling guitarists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
20. One to screw it in and 19 to say "Not bad, but I could have done it better".

What do you call a struggling guitarist who knows two chords?
A music critic!

What's the definition of an optimist?
A struggling guitarist with a mortgage.

How do you figure out who the struggling guitar player is at a party?
He'll tell you.

How do you get a struggling guitar player off your front porch?
Pay him for the pizza.

Why are so many struggling guitarist jokes one liners?
So the rest of the fledgling band members can understand them.

And on that note♫, remember: you can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish!
Take care. Have a good week and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—AtP.
