BOOK REVIEW: ANGELS & DEMONS BY DAN BROWN

It has been quite a while since I've posted one of these.
Not because I haven't read any books lately. Quite the opposite.
But I have been so busy with my own writing when I'm not overseeing this website as its Editor-In-Chief, that I just haven't gotten around to this task lately, so...

ANGELS AND DEMONS BY DAN BROWN
The first book (of five to date, The Da Vinci Code was the first movie) chronicling his adventures finds Icon and Symbology Professor Robert Langdon summoned to the CERN Institute in Switzerland to confirm evidence indicating a potential suspect involved in a gruesome murder committed while stealing a canister containing experimental antimatter, which is now being used as a weapon by the enemy with the objective of destroying the Vatican just as all the world’s cardinals have convened to select a new Pope!

It not only becomes a race against time to find and stop the bomb, but to save the top four candidates in line to become the new Pope as Langdon and a CERN representative track down clues throughout Vatican City trying to locate the undiscovered stronghold of the legendary Illuminati, provided it still exists and the villain behind everything isn’t hiding elsewhere.

As I have stated in past book reviews, there must always be at least some suspension of disbelief when reading any work of fiction, and there are a few far-fetched moments where that must be practiced while reading this novel. However, a willingness to do that will lead the reader on a page turning thriller for the majority of this book.

Have been since birth. Am one now. Will be one until the day I die, which is hopefully a LONG way off from now.

Sure you have. It's that way for everybody with any kind of conscious thought.
The news certainly doesn't help.
That's why Waxy Dragon and I are here. To try and cheer everyone up for at least a little while.
The world doesn't just need more love.

What is the best season to jump on a trampoline?
Spring.

I love sheep puns.๐Ÿ‘
They make me feel ewe-phoric.

If you know any fish๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ  jokes, let minnow.

Rest in peace boiled water. You will be mist.๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, that's all the time and space in relative dimensions I have for today. Where's a TARDIS when you really need one?
Hope you had fun. Try the 6 links, and please be back here next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—AtP.

SUNDAY FUNNIES: BUBBLEHEAD AND ME

♫Groovin' On A Sunday Afternoon♫
Hey Everybody! Waxy Dragon here!

I'm just chillin' on such a great warm summer day.
I'm perched up here on the roof of the house I share with Bubblehead, my human guardian, catching plenty of rays and enjoying the summer weather.
Of course, what I'm doing is certainly NOT recommended for humans.
You folks have so many safety precautions and health concerns that should be respected, it's a wonder you don't take better care of this planet!

Waxy's drawing of Bubblehead.
Bubblehead himself is asleep on his hammock in the shade of a couple of trees in our backyard.
I am NOT to disturb him. Then again, sometimes I think he's plenty disturbed as it is, but in this case we can both use some peace and quiet.

Bubblehead says he needs to lose weight, and I do think he is trying to make a sincere effort.
Why, just the other day he ordered a DIET soda with his double cheeseburger and super size fries.

I kid him a lot, and sometimes he can be a pain with stuff like wanting me to clean my room or take a bath, but I do like Bubblehead.
In some ways, I respect him too.
After all, he does have enough sense not to kick a cow chip on a hot day.๐Ÿ˜‰

There are times when he proves himself to be a wise man by saying nothing.

Granted, I'm not sure how old Bubblehead actually is. All he will tell me is that he is "25, plus shipping and handling."
Whatever that means.

Unfortunately, sometimes I do think he lies to me.๐Ÿ˜ข
I mean, no matter how much Bubblehead tells me otherwise, I disagree that Brussels Sprouts taste good.๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Not sure what he does for a living though.๐Ÿ˜•
I mean sure, we have a roof over our heads, the bills are paid, and we eat regularly, but Bubblehead did complain once that they didn't spell his name right on the sign to his office.
It's B-U-B-B-L-E-H-E-A-D, not S-U-P-P-L-Y C-L-O-S-E-T.

But in any event, while I may be a baby companion dragon and he's my guardian human that I "sometimes" disagree with; there is one thing nobody can deny.
WE'RE FAMILY! ๐Ÿ˜

Now if I could only find where he is hiding the Belgosian Dark Chocolate this time...

Take care everybody! Have a great week and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—wd.

#REMEMBERINGWOODSTOCK

Since hearing that there is apparently no "official" celebration, The Free Choice E-zine has taken it upon itself to make sure that there is at least some recognition of the historic Woodstock Music Festival today upon the advent of its 50th anniversary.
Whether they were a performer, an employee, attendee, or whatever; we've been asking anyone who can to please blog, Facebook, Instagram, Tweet, or whatever today their memories of August 15-18, 1969.

Of course, it would be remiss of us to ask others to do something that we do not ourselves, so...

August 15, 1969 I was 7 years old, still enamored by the recent completion of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing, and unfortunately nowhere near New York state, let alone the concert itself.
It wasn't until years later that I even realized what Woodstock was beyond a new character Charles Schulz introduced in the Peanuts comic strip.
But think about it for a moment.
Basically concert attendees had a 4 day vacation away from all the stress and turmoil (Vietnam, etc) of the world. Where the only things they really had to worry about were mud (being an outdoor event, there was no control over the weather) and the long line to the bathrooms.
People nowadays go out of their way to attempt obtaining such stress free moments. Traveling and paying high prices to find remote areas where there are no cellphone bars, or at least have a relaxing spa massage or a day on a quiet beach where one can veg out for a moment.
Yet for those 4 days in 1969 (events of the last night ran well past midnight, hence the references to August 18) one could have some brief serenity here on Earth.
That is really something, and a peaceful world is an objective we should all strive for now!
I love music. The songs of the 1960s are among my various memories and playlists.
If time travel is ever possible, I would love to go back and attend the Festival for myself. Maybe even record the whole event from start to finish for prosperity.
Hey, a man can dream.

PEACE!

FRIENDLY REMINDER: #REMEMBERINGWOODSTOCK

The following is an editorial.

This Thursday, August 15, marks the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock Music Festival!

Since there appears to be no official celebration of this historic event, The Free Choice E-zine has humbly suggested we can have our own "party" that day.

Whether you were an entertainer, an attendee, someone working at the event, or (like me) too young to even fully grasp what was happening back then...
All you have to do on August 15 is just Tweet, Instagram, Facebook, blog, or whatever to help celebrate by sharing and reliving the moment with others.
That isn't too much to ask, is it?

By all accounts it was a magical time, the likes of which will probably never be seen again.
Human beings set foot on the moon that same year, so why can't this be remembered too?

SUNDAY FUNNIES: LAZY LAUGHS (misc. jokes)

Hello Everybody! Autumn the Puppy here!
For humans and pets alike, this is a GREAT weekend where I'm at right now.
The temps are cool. The sky is clear. The breeze is pleasant and feels great on my fur...
๐ŸŽตSummer breeze, makes me fine. Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind...๐ŸŽต
This is what summer is SUPPOSED to be about!
And my humans are in the house staring at the TV, complaining that their team isn't doing as well as they should be in whatever game is on.

In any event, I'm certainly not going to waste such a beautiful day.
Let's see what jokes I can come up with off the top of my head...

When a female sheep ๐Ÿ‘wants to turn around, does she do a ewe turn?

Boss: “Think you can come in on Saturday? I know you enjoy your weekends but I need you here.”
Employee: “Yeah, no problem. I’ll probably be late though, as public transportation is slow on weekends.”
Boss: “What time will you get here?”
Employee: “Monday.”

"I'm a star. Want my autograph?"
Perfectionists are people who take great pains to make sure everything's right, but then gives those same pains to other people.

No matter how good a person๐Ÿ‘ผ you are, you are always the evil one๐Ÿ˜ก in someone else’s story.

Two old women were talking about life. The first complained about being lonely.
The second said, "I’m never lonely. I have four men in my life. I get up with Charley Horse, I spend the day with Arthur Itis, I dine with Will Power, and go to bed with Ben Gay."

Have you noticed how many medicine commercials seem to be on TV nowadays.
From what I've watched, the ads seem to spend more time warning people about the possible side effects than the benefits of taking their product, which makes me wonder if you'd be better off with the problem than the cure.
But why are there never any good side effects to some medicine?
I would like see one claim “May smooth wrinkles and remove excess fat.”

In the police interview room, a suspect told the officer: “I’m not saying a word without my lawyer present.”
The cop replied, “But you are a lawyer.”
The suspect said, "Well then, where’s my present?"๐ŸŽ

Well, whatever game they were watching must be over, because my humans just came outside.
Boy, they don't look happy.
Either their team lost big time or else they don't want me enjoying their hammock!
In any event, have a great week everybody, and please be back here again next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—AtP.
