Hello Folks! Piper D. Katt here!
Koda Canine and I are already gathering material for our annual Back To School salute, which is scheduled for the first Sunday Funnies after Labor Day in September.
Why so late, in comparison to when most schools actually start nowadays?
Well into the 1970s, many schools didn't start their new school year until the Tuesday after Labor Day and ended for the season the Friday before Memorial Day that next May.
It's only been in the last couple of decades that schools have started as early as mid-August and stayed in session as late as the beginning of June!
Even with weekends, "Teachers In Service" Days and other holidays has the class year lengthened but, any way you look at it, that is a long haul.

Individual school districts can require students to attend classes anywhere from 180 days up to a full 200!
And that's just covering the basics of public schools' Grades Pre-Kindergarten through Senior Year (12th Grade) in the United States.
Private schools and acquiring an education in other countries is a whole different kettle of fish.
Hmmm.... fish...๐๐ ๐๐
Tomorrow, August 8 is INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY! ๐ธ A big paws up for whoever got that established.
Hope you're taking care of your friendly felines and to all you other cats across the globe: MEOW!
In any event, here are some other interesting facts you might not know.
Reading while sunbathing will make you well red.
To date, only 12 people have walked on the moon.๐
Thankfully they didn't have to walk TO the moon or that number would be much smaller!
Here's a tip for all you Humans on how to dress for Winter.
Put on your pajamas and go to bed. ๐ผ
England has a Liverpool but no Kidney Bank.
The point of acupuncture is a jab well done.
For those who stay up all night to see where the sun๐ went don't worry.
It will dawn on you.๐
๐ฒBicycles cannot stand alone. They're just too tired.
Just before the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, make sure you raise your left leg.
That way you will start the New Year on the right foot.
So on that note♫ have a great week everybody!
Take care.
STAY SAFE!๐ท
And please be back next weekend for more Sunday Funnies!—PDK.
