THE WEEK IN REVIEW: JANUARY 13-19, 2013

United States President Barack Obama will be sworn in for his second and final term privately on Sunday, January 20, 2013; and publicly on January 21, which is also the national observance of Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior's birthday.

*The National Rifle Association is rallying support and public opinion the best it can as President Obama called for new gun control legislation Wednesday. Meanwhile, gun stores are reporting huge rushes on weapons and ammunition with the pending changes.
*ALL Boeing 787 aircraft have been grounded worldwide because of safety concerns about their lithium-ion batteries.
*Reports from NASA's Cassini space explorer show that the craters on Titan seem to be disappearing. There is no current explanation for this.
*NASA's Curiosity rover has found proof of calcium deposits on Mars akin to the results of water circulating in cracks and rock fractures.
*Civil unrest continues in Syria, Libya, Northern Mali, and Afghanistan.
