THE WEEK IN REVIEW: APRIL 1-7, 2012

Easter is observed this Sunday.

*While the Republican Presidential nominee is still being decided, incumbent Barack Obama has officially secured the Democratic Party's nomination to run for a second term as President of the United States.
*GOP hopeful Mitt Romney still leads over Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Ron Paul, but does not have the necessary amount of delegates needed to secure the nomination to campaign for office in the fall election.
*Civil unrest continues in Syria, Bahraini, the Sudan border, and Mali.
*Three widows and two daughters of Osama Bin Laden have been found guilty of being in Pakistan illegally. The court sentence? 45 days in jail and the equivalent of $114 US Dollars each.
*Renowned painter Thomas Kinkade has passed away.

IN SPORTS:
*The 2012 Major League Baseball season has begun!
*The Masters professional golf tournament is under way in Augusta, Georgia, USA.
*The grand champions of the 2012 NCAA college basketball tournaments are the Kentucky Wildcats in the men's division and the Baylor Lady Bears the women's.

IN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
*Amongst the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards winners were the Eli Young Band for song of the year (Crazy Girl) and Taylor Swift for Entertainer of the year.
