THE WEEK IN REVIEW: OCTOBER 26-NOVEMBER 1, 2014

WESTERN CHRISTIANITY CELEBRATES ALL SAINTS' DAY.
IT'S NATIONAL DAY IN ALGERIA AND
RAJYOTSAVA/FORMATION DAY IN KARNATAKA, INDIA.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS TONIGHT.
SET YOUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR, IF NECESSARY.
NOVEMBER 2 IS THE 125th ANNIVERSARY OF NORTH AND SOUTH DAKOTA BECOMING PART OF THE UNITED STATES.
TUESDAY IS ELECTION DAY IN AMERICA.

AMONGST EVENTS AROUND THE WORLD THIS PAST WEEK...
*Peace talks between Hamas and Israeli representatives were stalled after Hamas officials were denied entry into Egypt after recent terrorist attacks.
*Dilma Rousseff has been re-elected President of Brazil.
*Guy Scott has become the Acting President of Zambia, following the death of President Michael Sata from illness.
*President Blaise Compaoré resigned and fled Burkinabé after violent protests demanding his departure from office.
*Australia has stopped issuing travel visas to anyone from Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone, the worst affected areas from the current Ebola Virus outbreak.
*After Sweden officially recognized Palestine as a sovereign state, Israel recalled their Swedish ambassador.
*New Zealand will hold a referendum in 2016 to decide whether or not to change the design of their country's flag.
*A famous Russian actor was caught on film, firing a machine gun with pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk at Ukrainian forces, while dressed as a journalist.

WITHIN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA...
*As voters prepare to go to the polls Tuesday in the crucial 2014 mid-term elections, Republicans have outspent Democrats by an estimated 3-1 margin in hopes of achieving their goals. One third of the Senate and the entire House of Representatives is up for re-election, along with some individual state administrations and many local ballots.
*Many pundits fear that if the Republicans retain a majority in the House, and/or again a majority in the Senate, nothing positive will be accomplished.
*Georgia's Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp is denying all allegations of any wrong doing in registering potential new voters ahead of Tuesday's mid-term elections, despite the fact that over 40,000 new voter applications, all coincidentally(?) representing minorities, have disappeared with no one having any idea of their current whereabouts and status!
*Virgin Galactic's Spaceship 2 crashed in the Mojave Desert during a test flight Friday, with one pilot dead and the other injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
*An unmanned NASA rocket exploded over the Virginia coast earlier this week, thus delaying a resupply mission to the International Space Station.
*The Kïlauea volcano in Hawaii erupted, forcing evacuations of the surrounding areas.
*It came down to the final game, but the National League's San Francisco Giants won the 2014 World Series of Major League Baseball against the American League's Kansas City Royals.

A MAJOR MILESTONE!
