*This week marks the 45th anniversary of Mannix and Yvonne DeCarlo's debut as Batgirl on Batman (1967), along with the 25th anniversary of Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor Who (1987).

*A Wisconsin (USA) state court judge has overturned the Republican authored legislation that ended collective bargaining for state employees by declaring it unconstitutional.
*Because of the Fukushima disaster, Japan has announced it will phase out dependency on nuclear energy by the 2030s.
*Civil unrest continues in Syria and Afghanistan.
*The ABC television network killed an investigative report on actor Tom Cruise and Scientology hours before it was to appear on its 20/20 program Friday night, leaving some to wonder why since this is not the first time the network has cancelled a report on Scientology.
*The 2012 Summer Paralympics concluded in London, England Sunday, September 8. The next gathering will be 2016 in Rio.
*Moody's has warned that the United States is at risk of receiving a lower credit rating if the country fails to manage its debt by 2014.
*Apple has unveiled the iPhone 5 and the iOS.6

IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS...
*Protests have been held at various United States embassies around the Middle East after "The Innocence of Muslims" was released on YouTube September 11, 2012. However many Muslims consider the project blasphemous because it is critical of Islam.
*An attack upon the United States Embassy in Libya has resulted in four deaths, including the US Ambassador. US President Obama has condemned the event, Libyan President Mohamed Magariaf has vowed to bring the "cowardly attackers" to justice, and US Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has used the situation to attack Obama's foreign policies while never stating any sympathy for the victims or their families.
*Encouraged by the Libyan situation, protests have been held at other United States embassies around the Middle East.
*The People's Republic of China, Taiwan, and the Republic of China are in the midst of a new territorial dispute over the Senkaku Islands.
