Again, many people answered Fred Gwynne, so the late actor should be honored. However it was Peter Boyle in 1974's Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks. Strange was the straight man/monster to Abbott and Costello in the 1948 movie.

Long Chaney Jr. Portrayed the monster on live T.V. in the 1950's.
I believe Unknown meant LON Chaney Junior, but as I write this response, the comment cannot be verified. Can you please provide more information to confirm this?
