THE PUZZLE CORNER: MAY 31, 2014

Greetings everybody. A fresh batch of enigmas awaits.

COMMON BONDS
The items within each subset below have something in common.
Do you know what it is?

01. {Captain Marvel, The Atlanta Braves}
02. {Luann Degroot, The Arizona Diamondbacks}
03. {Groups 1 and 2}

TRIVIA TIME
Pending the results of the Belmont Stakes June 7th, "California Chrome" might become the first horse since 1978 to win professional horse racing's Triple Crown. But who was the last horse to do so?

We'll reveal all next weekend, but for now, let's peek inside THE ANSWERS BOX and discover the results from the May 24, 2014 Puzzle Corner.

THE 50/50 CHANCE
Believe it or not, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" IS a word, at least according to the Oxford English Dictionary since 1986.

The song was written by Richard and Robert Sherman for the 1964 Walt Disney movie version of Mary Poppins. While the Disney Corporation maintains its copyrights on the tune and film, the following video is courtesy of YouTube, featuring Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews, as this year marks its 50th anniversary!
