*Reuven Rivlin will be the next President of Israel.
*Kathleen Wynne won reelection as Premier of Ontario, Canada.
*The European Commission has announced a formal investigation of Apple, Starbucks, and Fiat concerning tax arrangements with Ireland, the Netherlands, and Luxumbourg.
*The 2014 French Open of professional tennis ended with Rafael Nadal winning the Men's Singles while Maria Sharapova won the Women's Singles title.
*The Taliban is trying to prevent voters from going to the polls in Afghanistan.
*Civil unrest continues in Yemen, Libya, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria.

CONCERNING THE UKRAINE AND RUSSIA...
*Russian President Vladimir Putin's personal envoy Sergei Markov has warned Finland not to join NATO, claiming it would weaken, not strengthen European security.
*The Ukraine says three Russian tanks crossed the border into Eastern Ukraine, but were repelled by the Ukrainian military, who has since recaptured the port of Mariupol.

WITHIN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA...
*Chevrolet has recalled over 500,000 Camaros over concerns that drivers could accidentally turn off the ignition key while driving.
*While pundits and analysts are still debating the long term effects upon the mid-term elections this fall and beyond after Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia lost the primary to Tea Party Challenger David Brat; Democrats are complaining about nothing getting accomplished in Congress as even more super-pac money is being poured into Republican candidates' ad campaigns.
*Electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors has announced it will allow competitors to use company patents without paying royalities for the good of the industry and the world's ecology.
*Merck and Company has agreed to buy Indenix Pharmaceuticals for $3.85 billion US Dollars, Priceline.com will be purchasing Open Table for $2.6 billion USD, the Amaya Gaming Group will be buying Poker Stars for $4.9 billion USD, while Tyson foods will be purchasing Hillshire Brands for $7.7 billion USD.
*Actress Ruby Dee has taken her final bow from the stage of life.
*Amongst the winners at the 68th annual Tony Awards were All The Way for Best Play with Bryan Cranston as Best Actor and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder winning Best Musical, Best Book, Best Costume Design, and Best Direction of a Musical.
*Nia Sanchez has won the 2014 Miss USA competition, and will go on to represent America in the 2014 Miss Universe pageant later this year.
*The Los Angeles Kings defeated the New York Rangers to win the 2014 Stanley Cup of professional hockey.
